Scope and Contents The papers of Pearl Leigh Buchanan were donated to Eastern Kentucky University by Mrs. Elizabeth Bassette of Nashville, Tennessee, a cousin of Miss Buchanan, through Francis Mason of Richmond in 1984. This collection of scrapbooks documents the career of Emma Case, longtime Dean of Women at Eastern. As Dean of Women Mrs. Case instituted several initiatives to recognize the achievements of female students such as the Women's Honor Program and the Senior Women's Dinner and these events are documented, as well. She was very active in the cultural activities of the college and the invitations, programs and other ephemera she collected document student life on Eastern's campus.
