William L. Keene Papers

Scope and Contents

The William Lee Keene Papers, consisting of one box containing speeches and writings of Mr Keene from 1928-1975, were donated to the Archives by Keene's daughters, Mrs. Kathryn Kearns and Mrs. Alice Garnache, in 1982. While the collection is small, it is representative of the material which Mr. Keene wrote or composed for speaking. All of these are fine examples of Mr. Keene's unique ability.

Scope and Contents This collection contains material related to Paul McBrayer's career as head basketball coach of Eastern Kentucky State College and years after, ca. 1940-2001. The majority of the collection contains correspondence from players who kept in touch with McBrayer over the decades. Scope and Contents The William J. Moore papers reflect Dr. Moore's extensive research into the Moore, Brandenburg and related families. Historian/genealogist Mr. David Brandenberg of Atlanta, Georgia, provided invaluable advice in arranging portions of the Genealogical Series. Unfortunately, almost no personal correspondence and no political correspondence was saved by Dr. Moore. Scope and Contents The 44 boxes comprising the Pre-Presidential Papers of J. C. Powell deal almost exclusively with official University matters. Some correspondence is filed as "personal" but still overlaps with professional contacts in that most of the correspondents are associated with either this or with other universities. Robert F. Ramsey Papers

Scope and Contents

Early correspondence, memorabilia and photographs from Eastern Kentucky State Normal School. Even though the correspondence is brief, it gives a glimpse into Eastern during the Normal School years. These items were collected by Robert F. Ramsey, Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds, for whom the Ramsey Building was named.

Richards/McKinney Family Papers

Abstract

The Richards/McKinney Family Papers contains correspondence, photographs, genaology, legan and financial documents, and documents related to EKU. The collection follows Mary Frances McKinney Richards (1900-1987) and Rollin Rhoten Richards aka "Dick" (1898 - 1997).  Both Mary Frances and Dick were faculty at Eastern for the length of their careers, and remained involved in Alumni affairs until their deaths. Many items in the collection relate to Mary Frances.
