Scope and Contents Leslie Anderson kept many documents relating to his time as a student at Eastern Kentucky State Normal School and his early teaching career. He has photographs from these times that cannot be found anywhere else. These, along with his compositions and the scrapbooks he compiled, paint a vivid picture of what it was like to be a student at Eastern and a teacher in Kentucky in the early part of the 20th century. Scope and Contents The Jennie Jeffers Ashby papers are useful for researchers studying education, especially in Muhlenberg and Ohio counties. Mrs. Ashby writes about her teaching career and the schools where she taught. She also kept photographs from many of those schools. This collection consists of a small number of letters relating to Margaret Carters education at Eastern and reference letters as she searches for teaching jobs. One reference letter is from Kentucky governor, W.J. Fields. Of particular interest is the letter from Marie Roberts offering her a job in exchange for classes.

Robert Morris and Lucy Teater Creech were both alumni of Eastern, so this collection consists of materials from their years at Eastern as well as activities they were involved in as alumni. These include information Eastern's Gold Star Men, the Class of 1939, and the marching band.

The Papers of Dr. Lucille Derrick, alumni and former faculty member, comprise .22 cubic feet. Although the collection is small, the warmth and vitality of the contributor is evident. These papers consist of Board of Regents minutes, class notebooks, correspondence, and memorabilia. Within each folder dated material is arranged chronologically.

Scope and Contents Contains newspaper clippings relating to Clifton Dowell's exemplary athletic career, as a player and a coach, as well as news articles addressing the coaching career of Charles "Turkey" Hughes. Information can be found relating to the sports history of Eastern Kentucky University, which was actually the Eastern Kentucky State Teacher's College when Dowell was competing. Also included are Christmas cards from friends, most notably from author, A. L. Crabb and family. There is also some official EKU Library correspondence regarding the John Wilson Townsend Collection and other items that were added to the library collections over the years.
