Roberta Dearborn Mitchell Papers

Scope and Contents Roberta Dearborn Mitchell (1899-1991) was a student at Eastern Kentucky State Normal School and Teachers College from 1919 to 1925 when she graduated with a teaching degree. The photographs and ephemera in the scrapbook give researchers a good look at the life of an Eastern student in the early 1920s. The photographs include several of George D. Scope and Contents The Thomas J. Coates collection is composed of six boxes of material relating to Coates' presidency at Eastern Kentucky State Normal School (1916-1928). The material covers only a small part of Coates' term of service, primarily the last two years. Unfortunately, many of the records from this period of the university's history were either destroyed or lost through the years. Scope and Contents This scrapbook album was created by Grace Robinson Shearin, a 1924 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University. The album contains items, between the years 1920 and 1924, including: memorabilia, newspaper clippings and photos of campus, students, and local places they visited. It is important to note that Grace annotated many items, such as letters and event programs, within the album, and these annotations really give the researcher insight into campus culture and personalities at the time....
