This is an artificial collection of newspaper and magazine clippings from a variety of sources and on many university topics. Also includes ephemera such as programs relating to the subjects.

Scope and Contents Julius Cherry Powell served as Eastern Kentucky University's seventh president from 1976-1984. These 183 boxes reflect Powell's influence on the historical development of the institution during a period of declining enrollment and diminished state appropriations. Scope and Contents Eastern began the practice of placing time capsules in building cornerstones as early as 1909 when the Roark Building was built. Most of these are still hidden behind the cornerstones; however, when the older buildings began to be demolished, the time capsules were retrieved and the contents sent to Special Collections and Archives.
