Bush and Bentley are writing to John White regarding a debt and driving hogs in the fall. They mention the price of hogs as that will determine if they drive them east. John White was a Richmond, KY attorney who was elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives in 1832 and later to the US House. He served as Speaker of the House from 1841-1843.
