The Cumberland Chapter or the Sierra Club Records document activities of the organization through correspondence with key members, published newsletters, and organizational minutes. Topics covered include outdoor recreation, natural areas and environmental protection. The group was actively involved in the protection of the Red River Gorge area, mineral rights and pesticide use in national forests among other things. The collection could be used with the papers of Robert F. Collins and Carl Perkins to gain multi-sided views of environmental issues in Eastern Kentucky.
