Scope and Contents
The Richmond Garden Club Records document the history of the organization as well as various projects they worked on with other community partners. The club members were very active in the preservation of White Hall State Historic Shrine and designed and maintained gardens there. They have also worked with various local organizations including Girl Scouts, Richmond City Government and the Richmond Area Arts Council to build Monarch Butterfly gardens, beautify Irvinton and downtown Richmond and decorate for the Arts Gala held for many years at Elmwood. The bulk of the collection is comprised of scrapbooks which give the researcher a good overview of the activities of the organization for any given year. Unfortunately, this part of the collection has some gaps, and it is not known if the scrapbooks have been lost or if they didn't create one for that year.
