The Council on Higher Education Series consists of twenty boxes of material covering the years 1975 to 1985. Records are arranged alphabetically by subject and chronologically thereunder. Most of the items concern the activities of Kentucky's higher education coordinating agency as it relates to its primary mission. The role of the individual institutions of higher education changed significantly during the time span of the records. Much of the autonomy and authority the institutions previously possessed was subordinated to the Council during this period.
