Scope and Contents
The collection consists of ten issues of the Tates Creek Baptist Church Newsletter (Vol. 1, no. 1 June 1990-Issue No. 10 (Fall 1992)), 32 church bulletins from 1991 with one from 1992, and two documents of May 10, 1992 concerning the Hymnal Dedication Service at the church. Each bulletin contains a few sentences about the history of Tates Creek Baptist Church by local author Gypsie Lee Cosby Jones.

Biographical or Historical Information
One of the earliest churches in the Madison County region, Tates Creek Baptist Church was organized between 1783 and 1786; the congregation first met in a stone building located somewhere in the vicinity of Shallow Ford. The building burned in 1850, and the congregation moved to its current location on Old Boonesborough Road in 1851.
