The Cox and Black families were original members of the White Oak Pond Church which is situated on Goggin's Lane and Barnes Mill Road. Daniel Cox and his family lived on Four Mile Road and owned land running near Otter Creek. Four Mile Road was originally a dirt road called Four Mile Avenue which ran northeast from Richmond. In 1907 it was piked (made into a toll road) and called Four Mile Road. Daniel lived on his land until his death in March of 1888, and Minerva died later the same month. Records show that the Cox family early pioneers lived in Pine Grove and owned a great deal of land.
