Biographical or Historical Information

The Valley View Ferry was established in 1780 to provide a route across the river for travelers between Richmond and Nicholasville, KY. The ferry was privately owned until it was purchased by Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, Madison and Jessamine Counties. At this time the Valley View Ferry Authority was established to manage the ferry.
