Scope and Contents Sulgrave Manor was the "Old English Home of the Washington's" in Sulgrave, North ants, England. In 1913 "a public-spirited body of English men and women" bought the property in the hopes of fostering and preserving the English-American relationships that had matured since 1815. The Sulgrave Institution of the U.S. and British Commonwealth was dedicated on 21 Jun 1921, with the hopes of "furthering friendship and preventing misunderstanding between English speaking peoples."
