Scope and Contents From the Collection: The Claude C. Howard Collection provides an extensive history on the Valley View ferry. The ferry is Kentucky's oldest continuous business, and has run from 1780 to present. The collection has photographs of Valley View and the ferry from the early 1900s to the 1970s. Scope and Contents From the Collection: Patricia J. Novak was the pianist for the EKU Women's Gymnastics team while she was a graduate student at Eastern. She played for the floor exercises during practices and meets. Ms. Novak also wrote most of the music she played and her compositions are part of the collection. She also served as the unofficial team photographer and the collection includes several hundred photographs that she took of the team during practice and competitions. The Shearer Family Papers consists primarily of receipts for store accounts, tax payments and court fees which belonged to various members of Absalom Shearer's immediate family. There are a few letters or letter fragments and school reports but none are extensive or detailed. Also included are two family photographs and a charcoal sketch of Samuel Shearer.
