Richards/McKinney Family Papers

Abstract

The Richards/McKinney Family Papers contains correspondence, photographs, genaology, legan and financial documents, and documents related to EKU. The collection follows Mary Frances McKinney Richards (1900-1987) and Rollin Rhoten Richards aka "Dick" (1898 - 1997).  Both Mary Frances and Dick were faculty at Eastern for the length of their careers, and remained involved in Alumni affairs until their deaths. Many items in the collection relate to Mary Frances.

Josephine Shawhan Photographs

Scope and Contents This collection consists mostly of photographs taken when Josephine Shawhan was a student at EKSNS. Most of the photos are of friends, but there are also a number of photos of classes or class excursions she attended as a student. Several photos are from Everett and were taken at Transylvania University. There are also photos from a trip to Chicago around the same time period. Grace Robinson Shearin Scrapbook

Scope and Contents This scrapbook album was created by Grace Robinson Shearin, a 1924 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University. The album contains items, between the years 1920 and 1924, including: memorabilia, newspaper clippings and photos of campus, students, and local places they visited. It is important to note that Grace annotated many items, such as letters and event programs, within the album, and these annotations really give the researcher insight into campus culture and personalities at the time....

This collection includes two yearbooks belonging to Sammie Short while she was a student at Eastern. The volumes include extensive inscriptions including detailed descriptions of events that happened during her student days and because of this are processed as their own collection.

Abstract

This collection of scrapbooks shows a detailed slice of the life of an Eastern Kentucky State College student in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Not only is Eastern well represented in the clippings, but so are the lives of her school friends from Walton, KY as they also appear frequently in the scrapbooks.

Scope and Contents

This collection includes photographs of the Eastern campus, students and commencement taken around 1913. It also includes ephemera and publications from Eastern such as programs for certificate class commencements, field day and a commencement play and The Student and Eastern Kentucky Review. Teaching certificates for both Eli Williams and his wife Erie are also included.

Scope and Contents The Ruth Knarr Yerkey Papers were donated to the University Archives by Mrs. Yerkey (Mrs. William T. Yerkey) of Ft. Thomas, Kentucky in August 1978.
