Rice Family Papers
Scope and Contents
The majority of this collection features the genealogical records of the Rice family and other collateral family lines including the Turner and Kennedy families. This collection also contains publications, information, and applications from the Daughters of the American Revolution. Correspondence ranges from debates about different topics to discussions about ancestors. Also includes two books by H. H. Brock titled "Genealogies of our Boggs, Cornelison, Ellison, and Brock Kin" and "Lines to Kith and Kin". This collection also has records of the Rice Family Reunion with all the names of the people who attended.

Biographical or Historical Information
Fountain Rice (1844-1921), son of Fountain and Malinda Frances Boggs Rice, married Ede Francis (1847-1920), daughter of Thomas and Mary Frances, in 1865. Rice was a farmer in the southern part of Madison County, Kentucky and attended Hays Fork Baptist Church. Several of his daughters were members of the Daughters of the American Revolution and their interest in genealogy is represented in the collection. Fountain and Ede had 16 children, including the following:

Jessie A. (1893-1968)
Jane (1895-1989), married Jesse Charles Hazzard
Most of their children moved to other parts of the country, but many were buried in the Rice lot in the Richmond Cemetery.
