The collection consists of ten issues of the Tates Creek Baptist Church Newsletter (Vol. 1, no. 1 June 1990-Issue No. 10 (Fall 1992)), 32 church bulletins from 1991 with one from 1992, and two documents of May 10, 1992 concerning the Hymnal Dedication Service at the church. Each bulletin contains a few sentences about the history of Tates Creek Baptist Church by local author Gypsie Lee Cosby Jones.

The Hustler [manuscript]

Scope and Contents

Typed manuscript of The Hustler, corrected in the author's hand, indicating several changes from the original including the title and the ending. Tevis includes notes to himself about plot development and textual problems. Additional changes were made before publishing, indicating that this is probably a first draft of the final book. Also included are the printer's proof copy of the first eleven pages of the published book with revisions included.

Time Capsule Collection

Scope and Contents Eastern began the practice of placing time capsules in building cornerstones as early as 1909 when the Roark Building was built. Most of these are still hidden behind the cornerstones; however, when the older buildings began to be demolished, the time capsules were retrieved and the contents sent to Special Collections and Archives.
